On October 27, 2022, The Pennsylvania Department of Health released Health Alert 2022-PAHAN-668-10-27-ADV regarding increased Respiratory Syncytial Virus activity nationally and in Pennsylvania.
The recommendations, as you can see on page 2 paragraph 8, Long Term Care Facilities (LTCFs) should test any residents with Influenza Like Illness (ILI) for SARS-CoC-2, Influenza, RSV, and other respiratory viruses.
As a reminder, Brookside offers a Respiratory Panel via RT-PCR which includes Influenza A, Influenza B, RSV, COVID, and Strep. Only one swab is necessary for this test and you will receive results within twenty-four hours from the time the swab is received at Brookside.
Due to the RSV outbreak, Brookside is doing what we think is best practices for our LTCF clients, based on recommendations from the CDC and the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
